As the world’s largest manager of commercial properties, CBRE can play an outsized role in helping to limit the rise in global temperatures while improving the efficiency and sustainability of building operations. CBRE is working to simplify complexity to accelerate sustainability through both the services it provides clients and its own global operations. CBRE has committed to a science-based target to achieve Net Zero GHG emissions by 2040 across its entire value chain, including corporate operations, buildings managed for clients, real estate development and supply chain. In support of this goal, CBRE’s near-term targets for 2030 include reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% and reducing emissions per square foot from properties managed for clients by 55%, both from a 2019 baseline. In 2024, CBRE released its Climate Transition Strategy providing a roadmap to realize these goals.
