The Climate Pledge is a commitment to meet the Paris Agreement 10 years early.

It calls on signatories to be net zero carbon across their businesses by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement goal of 2050.

The Climate Pledge was founded on September 19, 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism, and announced in Washington DC.

Climate change is outpacing the worst projections

  • Oceans are warming 40% faster than predicted
  • By 2100, millions of people in South Asia will be living in areas with heat indexes beyond survivability
  • Antarctic ice sheets are melting 70% faster than predicted
  • Wildfire seasons are 3.5 months longer than five decades ago and burn 6x as many acres
